I traveled to 2nd Shift on the first day we all knew life was about to change for everyone forever: Thursday, March 12th, 2020. What was originally an industry mental health education event with a few dozen peeps turned into a rather stressful but necessary chat between 10 folks who just needed a chance to sit and talk while being surrounded by people all feeling the same anxiety. This woman, Libby Crider, owner of 2nd Shift, is one of the most amazing humans on the planet and she was one of the last hugs I’ve had since the stay at home order was enacted in both Illinois and Missouri. Once this shit’s over, I’m going back, and I’m hugging everyone. Fresh Brewligans right off the line, samples of every beer on tap, full bowls of my fave, Little Big Hop, and an environment I feel at home in...I love you, 2nd Shift. Stay safe.
