What’s up, Michigan?! It’s nice to finally be back after a year off due to that whole global pandemic thing. We linked up with our buddy, Jay from Odd Side, and headed over to check out the newest brewery addition to a town I adore: Grand Haven.
I gotta be honest real quick…I didn’t really get the impression that I’d like their beer, given they have a DIPA called Wicked Smaht, and I immediately thought the place would be owned by a golf shirt retiree with a boat. I was thankfully wrong, as Jay told me that this particular beer bangs hard, and that Burzurk does good shit. So, onward we went, into the brewery for some body libations.
I really like their beer! Hooray! I started with the schwarzbier and then went in on some ales, and Jay wasn’t bullshitting: That DIPA is insanely crushable. Which is a blessing or a curse, given its 9.1% ABV. 😂 We also got to meet Tyler and Karen, the owners and brains and mixy masherators. They’re fun AF and we had a good time talking about things like beer and more beer and telling idiots to fuck off and also discussing stabbiness but not forgetting to try their seltzer. Which. Is. A. Base. That they then add real fruit syrup to. You decide! It’s not great for people who can’t make decisions, but I fucking love the idea of only taking up one tap and having oodles of tongue ticklers to choose from.
In the end, I’m feeling it all in a big way. Major shouts to Tyler and Karen and Joanie and the team. Love what y’all have brought to the shores of Lake Michigan. - Ryan
