Crane - Raconteur Coffee Stout

May is Mental Health Month. If you have never given your own mental health a second thought because you never needed to, welcome to experiencing trauma. You don’t have to be physically ill, or related to someone who is ill, or related to someone who died, or anything directly to feel an impact, or even just the weight in the air, from this pandemic and the subsequent quarantine. This particular beer here was brewed by my dudes at @cranebrewing in Kansas City, featuring an insane coffee injection courtesy of their in-house roaster @cuentocoffee, all benefiting @hopefortheday, the proactive suicide prevention and mental health education organization out of Chicago. As some of you know, I’ve been working with HFTD for the last few years and I’m insanely honored to get to work within the craft beverage industry, educating people on mental health and finding cool ways of bringing people together to help prevent suicide. Chris from Crane Brewing and Andy from Cuento Coffee became brothers of mine through the process of booking the in-person education events and arranging travel to KCMO in late March to coincide with the release of Raconteur. Of course, those events were cancelled because of Covid. And of course, we went virtual and managed to conduct some awesomely inspiring Zoom discussions around mental health. So, while it didn’t go how we had intended, we adjusted because we had to. And that adjustment highlighted how important the conversation about mental health is, especially now. If you’re in KC, snag some of this 8% yes juice because it’s juice that will help you say YES! But if you need a healthy serving of TALK, check in with HFTD at hftd.org. And keep talking about your mental health. Not just this month, bruh. IT’S OK NOT TO BE OK. - @joelfrieders
