For Father’s Day, I got to pick the destination, and I am a fat, hungry, and thirsty man in his late 30s, y’all. I took it upon myself to try the new BBQ joint, Station One BBQ in Plainfield, Illinois, which is in the same building as the brand new Garage Band Brewing. First off, STATION ONE WAS DELICIOUS AS FUUUUUU. Waited 45 minutes in line and I waited patiently and sensually because everyone eating in front of me was visibly satiated. Find a way to get there and EAT! Their beer list didn’t convince me to waste the calories, so I saved my beer drinking for heading next door.
Garage Band is a complete mystery to me. I had never heard of them before they opened, which is strange considering how much we talk about beer. Their motif looks kinda corny, but as a recovering musician, I kiiiiinda wanted to like it more than I did. The build-out looks expensive as hell, but the beers just didn’t do it for me. Only managed to finish one single beer out of the flight (the NEIPA if you’re curious), and that makes my beer tears flow like super-sadness juice from my front ocular skull holes. Hope they prove otherwise, but with a smokehouse next door like Station One, they won’t be lacking in thirsty customers. Beer better, bros! That meat next door can’t carry you forevers! - Joel
