Holler at some O.G. craft beer right herrrrre. Löwenbrauerei Elzach in Elzach, Germany, has been in operation since 1856, making classic German styles for the people of this region. They even used to deliver door-to-door, which is as gangster as it gets, really.
David from Decker Bier - the sexy lad in the Hopsmash shirt - met us here to introduce us to Johannes, who now owns the brewery that’s been in his family for five generations. Don’t forget the real, small brewers of small towns in Germany who have been brewing craft beer before we took over! I love the passion of Johannes, but the real dope thing is that he’s always down to try new shit!
They were testing a canning line while we were there, something most German brewers don’t ever wanna fuck with. In addition, he and David knock heads to rock out some great contemporary brews like Decker’s Øl, which is a new take on their classic pils, dry-hopped with Mandarina. This was a brilliant look into a classic and family-owned small German brewery.
If you ever hit up Germany, don’t sleep on visiting one of these operations in addition to the classics you wanna peep. Big thanks to Johannes and David for keeping the goody-goody moving forward into the 21st century.
