🍺 Pipeworks has a special place in my hopheart. Between my old college roommates being friends with one of the owners, Gerrit, and my music website (SYFFAL) doing their part in supporting their Kickstarter campaign to help fund their open 8 years ago, I’ve wanted them to succeed more than anything. So, don’t judge me for never having been to check the place out. I’d just had three kids, and within a few short months, their self-distribution was bringing their beers out to my local beer sellers. BUT MY BOY JASON AND I MADE THE TREK. AND YEP. PIPEWORKS IS MY XANADU!
Gerrit was busy experimenting with Pilsner slushees for an upcoming BBQ event, so we had to help sample everything super politely, pinkies out. What transpired throughout our three hours on site was something out of a beer lover’s dream. Between sampling everything on tap, and everything in the fermenters, we were able to scope out their new grain room location, and then saunter through the MF’N BARREL ROOM WHERE ALL OF MY CREAMDREAMS ARE LOCATED. Notice the “barrel candy” drips that turn solid after a few months of oozing out of the bourbon soaked wood, notice my dude Jason attempting to fellate everything not bolted down. DROOOOOL.
Pipeworks, and Gerrit specifically, we can’t thank you enough for your hospitality and for what you’ve accomplished to represent the Chicago and American beer scene. Seeing your small batch bombers on craft shop shelves over the last 8 years has been my favorite thing, and then seeing your bangin’-ass cans pop up everywhere has been so deliciously inspiring. I am proud of y’all in ways I cannot possibly describe, and I look forward to drinking your beers forevermore. Fin. - Joel
