Staying in the surburbs isn’t always a bad thing! (Just ask Chicago, whose suburban brewery list is a who’s who of beer badassery.) We were in Waukesha, WI - a suburb west of Milwaukee - for my niece’s softball tournament, and I immediately found the quickest route to Raised Grain. These guys have a massive spot in an industrial park from which they slang a whole bunch of different beers and some damn tasty food. They have a whole bunch of traditional styles as well as some fucked-with traditional styles and some pale ales for people like us. I reaaaally wanted the dark lager and the Belgian imperial stout to be sexier than they were. Deeso, but not memorable. The APAs and IPAs were pretty damn good, Ang really liked the Naked Threesome [insert sex joke] and the drunk dude who kept coming up and ordering it liked to make lots of jokes about it. (Totally understandable.) The red DIPA was good, too. Not too malty or sweet, no copper flavor. 👍 All in all, it’s a really good spot that makes beer all types of people will enjoy.
