We hung out in Santa Monica all day because I’d never been and really wanted to go. I just wanted to SEE the pier and hang out and walk around downtown or whatever. My good golly, that town is crowded. Too crowded for me, but very fucking cool. Plus, I got to see the Ocean Lodge Hotel and Chez Jay and imagine Billy Bob Thornton hanging out there and imagine living there. “Goliath” is dope, FYI. #touristvibes So yeah, after the hustle and bustle, we popped over to Santa Monica Brew Works and had to wait like 30 mins for them to open because they weren’t yet approved to open earlier. All goodies. We sat on the sidewalk like trust fund homeless kids.
They have a damn good array of classics, IPAs, and stouts on tap as well as a bunch of barrel-aged shit that I would have gotten completely shit-faced on if I didn’t have to drive. Overall, I’d say most the beer was Good Not Mind-Blowing and the stouts were Very Good And I’m Mad We Couldn’t Get Them To Go. Phil is cool as hell so be sure to high-five him when you saunter through. Also, fried chicken food truck.
Also also, there was a young folks’ networking event on this fine eve and it really looked like a singles mingle. Get you that Todd, Brittany! 😂 If I was 25 I’d be like yo, let’s network boo. I can’t hate on that. Stop by Santa Monica Brew Works for the beer, but also to escape the tourist rapture of downtown Santa Monica. - Ryan
