Marlowe - Ploosh ESB

Marlowe - Ploosh ESB

Never have I ever been excited about an ESB. It’s one of those styles in the U.S. that’s done by a lot of mediocre breweries and I always see it on tap lists at places like…okay, the polo shirts on the owners of this brewery must be much more amazingly golf and department store-ish than any of their beers will ever be. Thankfully, there are real, really good brewers stateside that actually make beers like ESBs because they like them and they have actual skills that make people seek out their beers instead of being a mediocre brewery in a smallish town somewhere that hopes to collect money for golf trips from unsuspecting tourists and unpalatable locals. So, it is with great pleasure that I enjoy the malty slightly bitter 5.4% goodness made by Marlowe, for they know exactly what the fuck they’re doing when they make beer. And by that, I mean they have the skills and will and love and heart for putting out an ESB that even people like me can appreciate. – Ryan
